12,000 lucky people had tickets, over one million people gathered on the streets of London, and millions watched or listened around the world as 'Party at the Palace', a musical extraveganza to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II got under way in her back garden. Some of the world's greatest rock and pop legends including Queen, Sir Elton John, Annie Lennox, Dame Shirley Bassey, Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Cliff Richard, gothic rocker Ozzy Osbourne, pop idol winner Will Young, Tom Jones and Brian Wilson were amongst the line up. For Tony Vincent, the day was very special. He and the cast of We Will Rock You were invited to be a part of this prestigious event. Tony had the opportunity to front Queen and perform Bohemian Rhapsody for the first time in it's entirety infront of the Royal family, and indeed, the whole world; but for him, the experience went far beyond playing 'Queen' to 'the Queen'. A dream became reality during the finale when Tony sang 'Hey Jude' on stage alongside his musical hero, Paul McCartney, the one who had inspired him at a young age to become the musician he is today when he heard his first Beatles track 'Hard Day's Night'...
Two very special landmark days therefore, in Tony Vincent's life.
